Lalbagh Government Model School and College has been moving ahead with reputation from the very beginning in 2007. This is a specialized institution which is being governed by the direct supervision and patronization of the honorable secretary, Ministry of Education. (The members of the governing body include the honorable DG of DSHE, two joint secretaries from Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Public Administration respectively. The governing body also includes the honorable chairman, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka.) Though Lalbagh Government Model School and College is situated beside the historic Lalbagh Kella, its surrounding areas are not much developed, well-educated. Most of the people are businessmen and they do not give importance on educating their children as they think the children will run their business in future.
